INFLUENTIAL scrum-half Paul Mennell is facing a race to be fit for Batley Bulldogs’ crucial home clash with Leigh Centurions in two days’ time. Mennell suffered an ankle injury in the first half of last Friday’s 18-10 defeat at York City Knights and coach Karl Harrison said: “He had to come off 10 minutes into the half which was a big loss for us.
“He is now a doubt for Thursday, but everybody else is okay.” Batley’s first defeat in six games has left them third in the Co-op Championship table, behind Leigh and leaders Featherstone Rovers on points difference.
